This position is responsible for submitting reports and payments to Department of Health (DOH) and/or National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) for claims made against any insured while ensuring compliance with New York State regulations.
Duties of the position:
1. Analyze claim files to identify all issues, events, diagnosis, and procedures that resulted in the commencement of the claim.
2. Submit reports to the DOH for claims made.
3. Review claims to formulate a synopsis of facts.
4. Make corrections to NPDB draft reports sent for physician review.
5. Submit approved reports to NPDB, JAS, and NYS Education Department in a timely fashion.
6. Interact with claims examiners regarding the synopsis.
7. Interact with attorneys and physicians regarding reports on an as needed basis.
8. Retrieve and collect physician background info from various resources for reports.
9. Perform other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.
10. Work with claim examiners and physicians for synopsis approval and to ensure the 30 day deadline of a payment is reported on time.
11. Ensure that the claims log is updated daily.
